Mid-18th century English mahogany adjustable mirror topped table/stand. A very interesting table, the top retains its original mirror plate which is set into a mahogany framed top on a hinged, ratcheted support that allows it to be raised incrementally or folded flat. The height of the top can be adjusted. The top is attached to a pole that sits inside the elegantly fluted and acanthus carved column and can be adjusted by loosening the mahogany screw and raising/lowering the top. The column is supported by a tripod base with shaped scrolling legs terminating in stylised pad feet. This is very much in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. We’re not entirely sure of the original use but it’s a very interesting piece of design.
